Substantia Innominata sub03
The third release on the Substantia Innominata label is by the Belgian Noise-Maker's Fifes. It's called 'Zona Incerta' and pressed on gorgeously marbled blue-greenish vinyl. Just as the other releases in the serie the concept is based around the unknown, in this case the unknown perception of the insect world.
The two sides breathe the same atmosphere consisting of dark brooding ambience with patterns of likewise sounds. Even though the basics of the two sides are completely different.
Side A is called 'Dyonisos' last day' and is a remix from a choreography by Cie Thor & Thierry Smits with the same title. Additional sounds are taken from recording sessions by NMF in the past as well as sounds of insects which mastermind Geert Feytons recorded in Kenya.
The B side 'Dyonisos in Zona Incerta' has great dynamics and a beautiful flow. If it wasn't for the city sounds through the open window, I would have thought AND believed I was on another continent, being another being with indeed a different view at the world.
This release deserves one simple advice: Get it before it's too late (it's ultra limited) and please, close your windows before listening (headphones might do the trick too).
