Algol - Deep Thoughts About Universe

Enough Records

Algol is a space ambient project from Siberia, the place where it's cold, where there is a lot of space around you and where you have time to do things. For the project Algol, this resulted in an album where there are several hints towards what to do with the actual space and time, namely to imagine what is beyond the borders of our mind.

A very nice perspective is given, but the album almost never gets to the point where this imagination is really put into a perspective of confrontation. To say it a bit easier: The album mainly just lingers on and on ...

So is that a bad thing? Yes and no. Yes because it sadly becomes a form of aural wallpaper for the experienced listener and the ones interested in the experiment. But no, because it proves to be a nice mellow wallpaper for which no moment is not good for playing it.

So personally I have mixed feeling about it, but Algol found a solution himself. Even though it's a cheap release (€4 if you order it directly) the release itself has also been enabled for free download on the Portugese label Enough Records (http://enoughrecords.scene.org/). So if you're curious, download the files, and if you like the tracks, support the artist by getting a hardcopy.
