autoclav 1.1 - You are my all and more

Kitties are cute! And if you don't believe me, the cover of this CD will definitly change your mind.

Autoclav 1.1 hails from around Leeds in the U.K. and it's a well kept secret. I've had the luck of seeing them live twice in 2k5. At the Rhode Island Noisefest and at the Leeds Termite Festival. Both performances were well done with an inmense synergy between the live video-mix and the music. It must been said the reaction of Mike - organiser of the mostly noisey Termite festival - during the autoclav 1.1 set was "Damn, these guys are ruining everything. This is the f*cking first time in 20 years people are actually dancing". But the beer was cold and the people were (very) happy so they were forgiven.

The CD opens up with the alienating 'Headspatial' which could have been a Gridlock track, maybe even some old Aphex Twin in his better period. 'This is the hollow point' emphasizes the IDM-ish background of this project; The beats get a bit faster, the layers are a bit more pronounced in the mix. Even though it sounds much more like a live-track, it does fit in the album somehow.

The CD continues in a nice fast pace with tracks which hold the middle between (industrial) D'n'B, downtempo, illbient, experimental dance ... (insert silence) ... It's like, well, I don't know! It's cool, danceable, noisey, fun. Faster tracks are mixed with more relaxed tracks with nice pads and ambient layers. And in their turn they make place for some deeper basses, creepy industrial sounds and even noise guitars!

The autoclav 1.1 part on the CD ends with the brilliant 'When to care' and even then it isn't done yet. Five fabulous remixes by amongst other Pneumatic Detach, Slacknote and Iszoloscope make you wonder how long it takes before more people will get to know and love this album.

The CD might not be something for everybody, but it is definitly an album which will appeal to a larger audience. Instead of having a big future in the "industrial scene", an appearence at A.T.P. or Glastonbury or festivals like that wouldn't surprise me one bit.

I don't think I can even remotely imagine how awesome Frank was ...
