Shinkiro - Deep Blue

Water ...

Think about it and it's kinda intriguing. We can't live with it - just look at the disasters all over the world like last years tsunami - but we also can't live without it. Maybe this duality is what makes it such an appreciated subject for artists. The Belgian Spectre label has its Nautilus series, in Germany there is the magazine & label "90% wasser" and well, there are just too many examples.

Japanese artist Shinkiro, living in Osaka, takes a journey along the banks of Yodo's river and the result is a 50 minute gorgeous ritual ambient CD called 'Deep Blue'.

The Japanese alienated female vocals put the sounds in a strange perspective, leaving the listener only to guess about the story behind the album. The tracktitles 'Deep calls', 'Into the darkness', 'Still alive' and 'Deep cold' suggest towards a failed attempt to suicide where the victim regrets the failure. And listening to the beauty of the CD, we - the listener - can only be thankful for this.

As water can be like wine, one shouldn't say too much about it. A good wine doesn't need much words to describe it beauty.

PS: The first 500 copies come with a bonus mCD with remixes by the Hybryds.
