Goose - Isobel

Taalem

The most recent batch of the continuous stream of 3"-s from France - in the meantime this is catalogue number 38 - starts with the American Brett Lunceford. His name might be familiar to those a bit more known with the US noise and ambient scene, because he also works under the name Stolen Light, as well the fact that he runs the label Zaftig Research. And yes, Zaftig is that label that releases the annual Christmas compilation.

Stolen Light is more the noise/conceptual outlet of Brett, where Goose is more focussed on atmospheres and ambience. 'Isobel' has one track, recorded during the hurricane Isobel. In the background there is some rumbling which very well could be from a hurricane, but the sounds layered over this background (metal percussion, cymbals, scratching) are quite massive and loud.

Because of this loud foreground the track has a constant 'in your face' feeling which I admit belongs to a hurricane, but perhaps a even more aggressive approach and - because of that - a Stolen Light release would have been a better choice.
