N(10) & Mirko Uhlig - Sanddorn

Genesungswerk / ExOvo

This record is truly taken care of in the best possible way! Pressed into seven inch of transparent vinyl are two perfect examples of contemporary minimalism by artists we definitly haven't heard the last of.

Side A is filled by a gorgeous sonic landscape formed by Helmut Neidhardt aka N. At each of his releases the index behind the N rises and so this track is done by N(10). He was/is also the guitarist from [multer] allthough it is quiet around them since 2003. The sculpture he presents on this single fits the caver design very well: You can imagine yourself standing on top of the dunes staring over the sea while the salty winds haunt drops of rain around your legs and face.

On the reverse side we find Mirko Uhlig, the man behind 'Aalfang mit Pferdekopf'. This track also remains untitled so it is up to the listener to decide on the theme of the track. The result can be described, but it isn't easy. It starts with a pianotune and a hardly audible sound in the background which enables a strong tension. In the second part of the track these sounds form - as if they were two objects in a visual composition - a fully different look at the world. Five minutes and thirty seconds will never be enough for works like these.

Collectors of Drone Records (for example) should quickly order this gem as it would fit the collection perfectly!
