Aural Hypnox AHCDR01
For a reasonable amount of time we knew that Scandinavia is a source of obscure cold ambient. Think Biosphere, Cold Meat Industry, Niko Skorpio and FukkGod. And as of today we can very probably mention Aural Hypnox in the same breath. Nice dark long soundscapes which will definitly be appreciated by CMI and Niko Skorpio fans.
Up until now some ten CD's and CD-r's were released, and six of them were made by Aeoga. And all of that within a year! The CD-r "Triangle of Nebula-Devourers" is the only thing I heard from this project, so I can't really compare it to their other work. Maybe I should give them a try?
The first track is called "Menstrual Skull Consumed" and it's the most rhythmic and noisy one of the release. The CD-r continues with "Seize The Flaming Droplets" which starts as the older works of Raison d'Etre or a somewhat less rhytmic, but just as atmospheric works of Svasti-Ayanam. The playtime is a little over 30 minutes (33:33 to be exact) and it ends with "Let The Sun Become Your Eye". Earlier camparison with cold Scandinavian soundscapes are very audible especially in this last track.
The infosheet doesn't give away more information then that the tracks were recorded in three days. At least, that is what is being suggested. If it's true, then it's definitly done very well.
And it wouldn't be a real review without a negative aspect ... (I am and always will be Dutch you know) ... The Aeoga website is unreadable. The person ho thought of darkred on darkbrown ... But for the rest kudos for this release!
Oh, and as there are only 100 copies, of which 60 are for direct sales ... Run Forrest! Run!
