Flutwacht - When the dogs come out

Deserted Factory

Down at the main-office from Gothtronic we were sent a whole bunch of releases from the Japanese label Deserted Factory. A label not tied to one style of music, but a collection towards "dark metal, industrial, ambient, noise, experimental, doom & grind". So after a quickscan the Flutwacht CD "When the dogs come out" released in may 2004 was sent to yours truly.

The album might be 3 years old now, but it definitly is worth checking out for admirers of November Novelet and the Throbbing Gristle in the 'Adrenalin ' or minimal electronic era. The fourteen tracks have a analog feel to all of them, sometimes it doesn't seem to be more then a rattling oscillator. But let's face it, that's not a bad thing.

The track 'Achtung_amerika' has additional vocals but in the way it's done, it doesn't really add a lot. It would have been better to have more tracks worked out with vocals, to reach an instrumental as well as a vocal side of the album. Now that only this one track has vocals, it is a break in the mesmerising atmosphere of the minial electronics. And that's a shame.

Because of the minimal aspects and (because of this) its likewise sounds, it's not easy for an outsider to sit through the whole abum at once. But I will NOT say it is a bad album because of that! It just means you have to listen to 7 tracks, then play something else, and then go for the second half. In that situation - for me - it's a beauty.
